"Bremerhaven - A Seaport city with Many Highlights"

Sketches produced by the city of Bremerhaven in the 68-72 time frame. - Page 2
Savannah
"Savannah", the first nuclear-powered cargo vessel of the world, is served by the Floating Crane Langer-Heinrich" which can lift loads of up to 250 tons. The giant crane Enak", which is likewise registered at Bremerhaven, can even handle twice that load!
Tower
The semaphore of the tower of the "Doppelschleuse" (Double Lock) - which can be seen from far away - regulates the enterings and leavings of the largest fishing port of the Continent. More than half the German trawler fleet is registered at Bremerhaven, i.e. 84 out of a total of 153 vessels. Ten thousand people earn a living in this fishing port which forms its own city section with its many factories.
Auction hall
The auction halls, where the fresh fish discharged during the night is put up for action early in the morning, have a length of almost 1 km. All landings, which are being offered in many thousands of cases, are sold within a few hours.
Fish pier
The trawler factory ships discharge their deep-frozen products prepared aboard directly into cold and deep-freeze stores set up right next to the pier. Deep-freezing is the new pace maker for opening up new outlets.
