Recent Photos of NSGA Bremerhaven - June 2000

"One of my Marine friends suggested that I send you some of the pictures that I took on my recent trip to Bremerhaven.

The pictures were taken on the base, which is now occupied by a couple of German businesses. The bulk of the buildings and base is deserted, except for a few deer, many rabbits (hares) and a few ghosts.

The gate is still manned by German civilians, working for the Zoll, or German customs department. As a result of this, there has been no pilfering or vandalism of any of the facilities.

There is a very small (five men) contingent of Army left, mainly handling the import and export of POV's of American personnel stationed in the South.

The one picture of nothing but a mud hole and some piled up gravel is the site of the old Operations Building."

former member of SubUnit 2, Company "G", later Company "B",Marine Support Battalion.
