Thomas McDermott

NEWARK - Thomas W. McDermott, 72, of Silver Hill Road, died Saturday (September 28, 2013) at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Ct., Newark. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope Ave., Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery with full military rites. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society .

Tom was born in Queens, N.Y. December 27, 1940 son of Lester and Edna Dougherty McDermott. He retired from Verizon in 1994. He had been an instructor for NY Telephone Co. School on Grace Ave. He was a Navy veteran where he served for 30 years active and reserves where he was in radio printer school. He was a member of the American Legion of Newark, the Newark Elks Lodge, Redeemer Lutheran Church, were he was active in the Church. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Carole Radl McDermott; three sons, Daniel (Autumn) of Calif., Michael (Wendy) of Newark, Timothy of St. Louis; two daughters,

Julie (Daniel) Golden of Newark, Christine (Jeffrey) Ermer of East Amherst, 10 grandchildren; brother, Dennis of Penn.; two sisters, Shirley Turney and Elaine Orosz; nieces and nephews.
