Richard Leland Allen 1935-2008

He was born March 22, 1935 in Portland, OR., and was the son of Leland and Jeannette (Fife) Allen. He was raised in the Portland area and was a graduate of Sutherlin High School Class of 1954. Mr. Allen went on to earn his Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Allen was a 22 year veteran of the US Navy having served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired in 1974 with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. After his Navy service, he moved to Merrimack and was employed as a Marketing Manager with the Digital Equipment Company until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Allen enjoyed doing genealogical research, and was a member of the Navy Cryptologic Veterans Association. He has been a resident of Bedford since 1983.

Members of the family include his wife Mary (Leathers) Allen of Bedford, two sons and a daughter, J. Scott Allen of Boston, Ma and Craig Allen of Kasilof, AK, one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and James Midgley of Dracut, MA. three grandchildren, James T. and Laura K. Midgley. Sean J. Allen of Malden, Ma. Four brothers, James Allen of Ukiah, CA, Robert Allen of Jacksonville, NC, Peter Allen of Pelmyra, VA., and Patrick Allen of Kannapolis, NC. As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
