Guest speaker at the NCVA-NE Fall Reunion was Mr. William "Bill" Amos, age 90, former LT, USNR. He is possibly the last translator-cryptanalyst to have been part of Fleet Radio Unit Pacific at Pearl Harbor during WWII. During the time he was there this small unit (FRUPAC) was crucial to the outcome of the Pacific War. He worked daily in the presence of towering figures and served their needs and wishes constantly and was privy to all that went on in a way that very few people were—anywhere, anytime.

FRUPAC was responsible for setting the stage for Midway, Adm. Yamamoto's shoot-down and other major events. Over the years he has gradually learned the full story, often through confidential correspondence he’s been allowed to examine. Bill lived in Japan previous to WWII and is keenly aware of events leading up to the Pacific War, of FRUPAC and CinCPac personnel. He now resides in Vermont.

At the conclusion of his presentation and Q&A, Bill was presented a lifetime membership in NCVA-NE.
